Dave Sislen, President
Dave Sislen is the president of Bristol Capital Corporation, a multifaceted real estate investment and management firm which he co-founded in 1986. Among its more significant activities, Bristol Capital has:
- Acquired and/or developed real estate assets with a cost in excess of $500 million
- Provided advisory services leading to the resolution of more than $1 billion worth of troubled real estate assets and debt secured by real estate assets
- Provided ongoing property and asset management services for a portfolio of real estate assets located primarily in the Washington, D.C. market
Prior to founding Bristol Capital, Mr. Sislen was a senior vice president of CRI Inc., a national real estate investment firm, where his responsibilities included the development, acquisition, and syndication of more than $650 million of commercial real estate assets.
Among his professional endeavors, Mr. Sislen currently serves as, or has been:
- An adjunct faculty member at George Mason University’s School of Business where he is an instructor in the University’s Master of Science in Real Estate Development Program. Mr. Sislen was named as the “Faculty Member of the Year” by members of the Class of 2018.
- From 2005-2015 Mr. Sislen was a member of the professional faculty at The Johns Hopkins University’s Carey School of Business where he was an instructor in Real Estate Finance within the University’s Master of Science in Real Estate program. Mr. Sislen is one of two recipients of the Carey Business School’s Excellence in Teaching Awards for 2011.
- Member of the Board of Directors of Landmark Land Company, an international developer of golf amenitized master planned communities.
- Member of the Board of Directors of DMR Mortgage Opportunity Fund LP, a $300 million fund registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, as a closed-end and non-diversified management company investing in mortgage backed securities.
- Chairman of the Maryland Loan Committee of the Business Finance Group, an SBA approved 504 Lender.
- From 2008-2017 Mr. Sislen was a Member of the Advisory Board of Cortland Capital Market Services a fully integrated provider of analytics and support to the financial services industry. In 2017 Cortland was sold to Alter Domus Group.
- Member of the Board of Advisors of the Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives which researches factors for improving K-12 education in urban America.
Mr. Sislen earned an M.B.A. in Finance & Accounting from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Tulane University.
